This is the letter that I had hoped to write to Megabus, but after 2 requests for the CEO's name and business address went with no response from the Megabus e-mail site, I'll have to post the letter. You might think it extreme to write to the CEO, but apparently, anyone below that level of employment really doesn't care about your problems with the service.

Dear Sir or Madam:

I'm writing to ask you to please revise your bus arrival times to realistic numbers.

My daughter has taken the Megabus from Pittsburgh, PA to New York, NY, 7 times over the past year. Her bus has never arrived on time per your schedule. 7 out of 7 times late! That's a failure rate of 100%! If the airlines did that, they would be out of business!

It's a shame that we can't depend on the accuracy of the schedules that you provide.

Particularly in the case of New York arrivals, I can understand how difficult to predict the actual arrival timeโ€ฆwhich is why I'm suggesting that you consider changing your New York arrival location to the Secaucus Junction stop in Secaucus, NJ. This is only about 15 minutes from New York BUT would provide both your company and your customers several benefits:

1. Your drivers wouldn't have to negotiate the Lincoln Tunnel and the New York traffic

2. You would save on the numerous tolls you pay for each bus that enters the city

3. You would be able to more accurately predict your schedules

4. Your customers would have the option of taking the trains/buses at Secaucus Junction just as they do at Penn Station

5. Those who are waiting to pick up your riders would have an abundance of parking available while they wait for the bus

6. Your riders and those picking them up would know that they can depend on the accuracy of your arrival schedules

On Friday, September 8th, your bus from Pittsburgh to New York had a scheduled arrival time of 12:35am. The bus actually arrived just before 2:00am โ€“ almost 1-1/2 hours late. That is an unacceptable level of service. In addition, the bus drive made no announcements about the revised arrival time. Those of us waiting had no idea what had happened to the bus.

Please consider revising your operating schedules to reflect realistic arrival times.

Thank you for your consideration.

Sincerely,

Valerie Perwas

While I'm not in the busy NYC, I've never had any trouble with schedules from this bus service. But even if I did, I'd keep right on giving them my business because you can't beat their prices with a stick! If I were as upset as the poster, I would have stopped after four late trips, but I'm guessing that price tag is too tempting for us all.
