I can sympathize with Vladimir_m from his post above. My family and I traveled to NY on 12/18 and had tickets to return on 12/20, but a major snowstorm hit that day and Megabus canceled all service.

We understood that but when I called to just have the tickets for the 20th rolled over to the 21st, I was told they couldn't do that and was instructed to buy 5 more NEW tickets and they would refund me the money from the canceled reservation. That was in December 2009. Today is May 7th 2010 and I am STILL trying to get my refund from 12/20. Just like Vladimir, I had no luck with the 877 number (unless I wanted to make a purchase).

I experienced hold times of nearly 2 hours on one occasion, 47 minutes another time and about 1 hour 15 minutes yet a third time when I called the 908 "customer service" number. I tried one more time today and still couldn't get anyone to answer after about 24 minutes. Never got through. And the people at the 877 number were unsympathetic and borderline rude when I explained that I could never get through on the 908 number.

The rep I spoke to today actually said "Yeah, that's too bad. Sometimes they get really busy." Then he said "What's your problem anyway? You can go online and fill out a form." which just seemed very rude to me. I told him I had been trying to get my refund since December and he told me I shouldn't have waited so long!!

Besides, I tried the online form and got nowhere with that one either. I finally filed a complaint with the BBB and hope that it produces a refund.

The way Megabus does business is just unacceptable. I would warn others to use another bus company.

Megabus call center refused to actually listen to what I was saying.

I called customer service because my bus driver had threatened to lock me in the luggage compartment. I explained to the customer service rep that he had said my carry-on was too large, even though their website hadn't said anything besides "it must fit in your lap", which it did. Customer Service Rep: Your luggage must be a standard size suitcase weighing less than 50 lbs. Me: Yes, I know. The issue was with my carry-on bag. CSR: It must be a standard size suitcase... Me: Yes, the driver said my carry-on was too big, but according to your website it is not. CSR: The carry-on must be a standard size bag that will fit under your seat. Me: That isn't what your website says, it says the bag must fit in your lap. (CSR directs me to the luggage requirements page, which I', already on.) Me: Yes, I'm looking at that page right now, it says the bag must fit in my lap. CSR: Your luggage must weigh less than 50 lbs and... Me: Ma'am, I know. The issue was my CARRY_ON... CSR(interrupting): It must be a standard size suitcase... Me (getting annoyed): Look, I just called to tell you about the bus driver harassing me. Also, apparently your website needs to be updated with your new carry-on requirements. I just don't understand why I was supposed to know information that isn't on your website. CSR: Your carry-on must fit under your seat. Me: Yes, I know that now, but your website doesn't say anything about that. CSR: Your luggage must weigh 50 lbs or less. Me: Yes. Will you report my complaint about the driver? CSR: Yes, but for future reference your carry-on must fit under your seat. Me (giving up): Yes, I understand. Thank you. *hangs up* (Their website still says your carry-on must fit in your lap, and nothing about it fitting under your seat.)

Megabus is a Megajoke. Don't waste your money. Spend your hard earned bucks on a reputable mode of transportation like Amtrak or Greyhound.

It sounds like a non-native English speaker who was trained to respond to certain questions by using a script. They are not able to hold an actual conversation unless it fits within their script. This happens all the time when a company outsources their customer service department to countries such as Malaysia, India, the Phillipines, etc.

Mega joke is an under statement! I will never do business with this company again.

Not only was the pick up location extremely difficult to find because they failed to provide a physical address, the call center agents located in Georgia were rude, and really lacked customer service skills. I asked to speak with a supervisor several times and finally hung up after being denied. The incompetent rep, whom I was on the phone with for over 40 minutes finally stated, I could go into the center and get a replacement ticket because I missed my bus. Then she stated that location does not have an actual office.....

Okay???? So to sum it up.

I did not speak with a supervisor, my ticket was not exchanged, and refund was denied! I am currently disputing this with the BBB.

I heard about this bus via a friend. I travelled from Memphis to Chicago recently.

The bus was 1 hour late. Someone vomited in the isle,it was never cleaned up during the entire trip. Becaue the fares are cheap,it attracts shady characters. On my trips, they wer cursing ut h te driver for not making unscheduled stops.

I would never take this bus again. I encourge everyone who is thinking of taking a trip on the Mega Bus should pull off the complaints and file them in a safe place.

Before long there will be major law suites. Your attorney will need them

if the company does not hire safe drivers and improve their services.

Megabus leaves you stranded without a word

Champaign-Chicago.Waited for 3.5hrs after a vm from Megabus that they would depart an hr late. No further communication from them in over 3hrs. Their customer service line was closed and there was no one to ask about status. At least in this location we could wait inside a building but if you're in Chicago, you'll be waiting outside. I had to have my parents drive the 5hrs roundtrip to come get me. But hey, when I called them this morning to complain they said, we're sorry but they didn't have an explanation. I don't care how cheap they are - never again.

With some internet searching, found out Megabus is owned by Stagecoach a company out of Scotland. USA is supposedly run by a COO, but if my search is right, he is not even in America.

Stagecoach's mission or outcomes have nothing to do with customer service so it doesn't look like that will improve. Come on American innovators- you can put this business out of business with good old American customer service!!

Had my first and last experience on Megabus. With 7 other people in my group, I have never seen such a mess at that "bus station".

They are a lawsuit waiting to happen. Leaving Chicago's station 1/2 late, on some other bus (not a megabus since they obviously overbook) people trying to be first, pushing like cattle, no way of identifying buses from the side (our bus was not even marked in any way!) I had elderly people with me who almost passed out waiting the hour and a half in direct sun with no place to sit or be in shade.

Unbelievable! I plan trips for family and friends- I will never do megabus again :(

i was waiting outside at buffalo airport for over 2.5 hours the bus was late because they went back to pick up some *** who walked away from bus- not our fault , we are freezing outside (children too)- tried calling megabus said they had no way of knowing where bus was ... since when do drivers not have cell phones????and how did that *** end up calling him and having the bus return???

then after half hour on the phone with megabus the lady gave us a new customer number and we were on hold for half an hour... no help came . they have our numbers from when we book our tickets . someone should have called to tell us to go back into the airport and stay warm and then they would call us when they were close.

they have no regard for their customers. Today i have been on the phone with megabus ( 5 different numbers ) to find out the CEO mailing address to mail him directly . One girl said she had no idea who owned the company and wouldnt help.

I will not stop.

YOUR BEST BET IS TO NOT USE MEGABUS EVER !!!!!!

Why Have a Timetable>>>

We used megabus for the 1st time friday night, and what a joke; never again..I was told sternly by the very unfriendly woman on the other end of the phone when i made my booking, to make certain to be there 15 mins before it was due to leave; Why? We were waiting nearly an hour freezing in the m iddle of town before it rolled in with no apologises from the miserable driver. Now to make matters even worse, now on the wway back, i need megabus to be on time so i can get my last bus home. It started out on time but pulled up and parked for 20 mins for no apparent reason! If i miss my last bus home, im stuck, as i have no taxi fare and all the trains to my area end at 11pm. You may be a cheaper way to travel megabus, but if you carry on like this, believe me people will not bother; im not again. J1 Taylor

Megabus Ripoff

contacted your service center and spoke to Evelyn Ford (ID #762168) regarding my son who is travelling from Chicago, IL to St. Louis, MO. He was scheduled to take the 4:30 p.m. bus. He left Milwaukee, WI at 2:00 p.m. to head to Chicago, IL by car. He ended up being stuck in traffic (I94 Construction) until 3:00. Arrived in downtown Chicago at 4:35 and missed the bus. He had no money on him and mom is broke. She refused to offer assistance other than purchasing another ticket. I am utterly disturbed at Megabus' definition of customer service. In essence you pocket $20 for being 5 minutes late and offer no compensation. I asked if there was anything at all she can do to assist and she flatly refused. I plan to post this complaint online for the world to see unless I get a complete explanation from your company explaining your employees insensitivity to this situation.

thats terrible, he missed his connecting bus because of traffic. Not his fault and the bus company should make amends, put the kid on another connecting bus.

This happens with the airlines and they try to connect passengers when this type of situation occurs. Its only right!

They just did the same to my family of 4. Made a reservation of less than 24 hours from when I was to leave and would not exchange my tickets for a earlier time.

When I called and asked for a higher power they refused me permission. They have no problem over booking and bumping you back off of the bus you made reservations but refuse any exchange when offering money.
