Megabus - Bus Service Review from Chicago, Illinois

Ok here's my expirence I took a one way trip from grand praire texas to Chicago illinois. Let's start off with the bad .. It's alot of that . They need SECURITY on the busses ASAP !! I felt violated from the time I stepped foot until the time I got off. Some of the riders are complete creeps! The wifi.. Doesn't work so don't get your hopes up They should invest in some heat , I had on a hat,scarf , and a blanket and was still freezing majority of the ride. The drivers shoulf be tested for drugs and alcohol consumption before driving . Almost certain one of the drivers were drunk. Also they should have scheduled breaks .. One of the drivers took two unexpected breaks which lead to us being late ! They need to get a bus station ,we stood outside in TN in 1 degrees ! For over a hour and a half. The pros .. Not too many but it was over all a good trip once I relocated to a different seat, the outlets worked ,and the seats were ok.

12 hours later my daughter still isn't home from her 8 hour trip

For those of you following the "Where's Megabus?" daily saga ... This is where we now are.... 10:00 am - My daughter's bus was supposed to leave from Memphis to Dallas. 10:30 am - the bus actually left 12:45 pm - the bus arrived in Little Rock 12:46 pm - the bus driver announces he is going back to Memphis because "he left some people there" 3:00 pm - the bus arrives BACK in Memphis 4:00 pm - the bus is STILL in Memphis because the bus driver is LOST! 4:30 pm - the bus FINALLY leaves Memphis - AGAIN 6:30 PM - the bus arrives in Little Rock - AGAIN 9:30 PM - I was just notified that they are 3 hours out from Dallas, but, and wait for it ... The driver can not legally drive any more because he hit his 12 HOUR LIMIT! ON AN 8 HOUR DRIVE!!! So ... now my daughter is waiting on the side of the road for ANOTHER Megabus to come get them....

My bus was pose to leave out @ 2:45am frm stl and arrive n memphis @ 7:05am i didnt get on my bus til 7:00am cuz of bus problems i was told which made me miss my 10:30am bus frm memphis 2 atl now i have 2 sit here 4 10 1/2 hrs i was told i would get refunded would that b 4 all 4 tickets that i purchase 2 get frm stl 2 memphis n then frm memphis 2 atl i can b reach @ 314-665-****

Megabus never came/no refund

I was taking the megabus home to chicago after visiting my girlfriend in Iowa City. We waited at the bus stop which is at this basically abandoned parking lot/post office. It always drops off and picks up there, there are signs that say that it's megabus pickup. My bus was supposed to arrive at 2:15. we waited there from 2pm until around 3:40 and I called megabus at 2:15 to make sure we were at the right place, which we were, and they said the bus was running 3 minutes late and to call back in 15 minutes if it wasn't there. I called back 15 minutes later, and they said to wait another 15 minutes, then another 15, then 30. there were other people waiting at the bus stop also calling, and around 3:30 they told us over the phone that it pulled off at 2:40, which couldn't have been possible because we were there the entire time. After lying to us over the phone, we asked if we could have a voucher for another bus, which they said no to because we "missed" the bus. I was forced to pay $45 to take a greyhound bus that night after already losing $30 for the megabus. STAY AWAY FROM MEGABUS - they'll *** you over

Waited two hours in pouring rain they wouldn't reschedule my reservation.

I waited for the megabus in the pouring rain in sacramento , CA. I called the megabus customer service to find out the stautus of the bus. I was told to call back in ten to fifteen mintues for a status update because they could not find the current location of the bus. Long story-short I had to call customer service four times , and they still couldnt find the bus for me. I asked if they could reschedule my bus for tomorrow , but they said they couldn't do that for me because i didnt wait for the bus. I asked the lady who claimed her name was " Larie " ( probably lying) if she would wait in the pouring rain for two hours for a bus where they dont know is located nor do they know when it will arrive? i didn't ask for a refund, i asked if she could reschedule my ride and the answer was flat out no. Didn't even try to help me or contact her supervisor / manager at all. Complete horrible service.

MegaBus is cheap but risky

I have taken MegaBus twice now. The first time I traveled from Rochester, NY to NYC and back. The bus was early and left about 5 minutes early - I barely made it on time but I figured it was my fault for not being there sooner. Once I got on the bus I realized the WiFi and outlets did not work as advertised. I had planned on charging my phone on the way there but was unable to. In addition the heat did not work at all. The bus driver was not remotely apologetic despite the fact that it was March and freezing inside the bus for the 6+ hour trip. I was satisfied enough with my trip for the price to try MegaBus again. The second trip was from Buffalo, NY to Cincinnati, OH and back. The bus ride there was fine. However, I went to return yesterday and had a terrible experience. Firstly, the bus drivers were very rude and yelled at passengers to "get in line" and "get the *** back." Once I finally gave them my bag and went to get on the bus I was told I could not get on the bus. Apparently the bus had been overbooked and my ticket had been rescheduled to the following day, without warning. I was staying with family so accommodations were not a problem but I can't imagine not letting passengers know ahead of time - what if I didn't have a ride or a place to stay? In addition, I have to work tomorrow and will not be getting home until 1 1/2 hours before I have to be at work. I anticipate a long day after no sleep on the bus tonight. Last of all, both the trip to and from Cincinnati were on buses that were extremely overheated - several other passengers have complained to no avail. It's winter outside but it's a sweaty 85 degrees in the bus. Very uncomfortable. My experiences have not been as bad as some but I intend to take other means of transportation going forward whenever possible.

Megabus - Bus Service Review from Harrisburg, Pennsylvania

Megabus left without me in Pittsburgh, PA even though I was at the stop on time. There were no signs organizing people by destination city. No workers organizing the mass of customers. I saw my bus pull up and kept waiting for people to start boarding in the front door (by the driver) where I was standing. No one ever did and no announcement was made. Apparently only a few people of the large mass were going to my destination city and they were loaded at the back of the bus. If you've ever seen a Megabus, it is huge so this all went on without my knowledge. I kept waiting for them to make the announcement that it was time to board. That announcement never came. The bus pulled away and I thought it was turning around... It never came back. I asked an employee and he said my bus left. He said only 11 people boarded, not sure what that had to do with anything. I called customer service and they wouldn't let me transfer my ticket towards the next stop. The explanation was because the next departure was 10 dollars more... Ummmmmm so obviously I'll pay the difference? They refused, said id have to buy a whole new ticket. I paid twice as much for Amtrak and got to where I was going without a hitch. Funny ive never missed an Amtrak train. First and last time using Megabus.

Fare $26.50- extra bag $45!!!

I was charged $45 to check an extra bag on my Nov 26 trip from Houston to Austin. My original ticket was only $26.50. I offered to lift my bag into the storage compartment, when the megabus agent said I had too many bags. I had one large back pack, one small back pack and my computer bag. She told me first $35 for an extra bag; I asked why, then she increased the price to $45 and said passengers were allowed one checked bag and one carryon. The woman in front of me had two carry on bags; the agent said women two carry ons, men only one. The agent's decision was subjective and discriminatory; she was rude at no extra charge. As a 'bonus' one of the bus's windows broke during travel, causing us to arrive at Austin 45 minutes late.

Bus driver DD541

bus DD541 refuse to let passengers on bus, she said she needed 45min. to take a lunch break. bus was already late and it is cold outside. she could let us on the bus while she take her lunch break. it is very cold out here. I am very upset at this situation. I may not ever ride the mega bus again. I felt inconvenience because I was on time, the bus arrived late and I was still asked to wait before we could board the bus. This incident needs to be addressed because I am sure others will have the same complaint.

Attempted to get a refund issed

Friday afternoon, my friend and I took the megabus from Port Authority to Atlantic City with no issues with tickets we bought on last wednesday. After a weekend in Atlantic City, we were all set to leave with other friends we met up with there and ran into an issue. I had misplaced my return ticket stub for the Megabus but I still had in my possession the order number, credit card used to make the transaction and the reservation number from the original ticket. When I attempted to speak to someone at the bus terminal, they informed me that there was no representative for the bus company there and they only bought and sold tickets.I spoke to the bus driver who had referred me to them and he claimed he had no way of helping me. I was then left to purchase a $39 ticket for a one way trip back to Port Authority in order to go with my friends on the bus and be able to have a ride home from NYC to Long Island where I live. In all I had to spend $79 on just transportation to and from Port Authority which I am confident any normal person would assume is absurd especially since I had the ticket information with me. While on the trip back to NY, we stopped at a rest stop to use the restroom and the bus driver actually left an elderly gentleman there. When I emailed the inquiries office they refused to issue me a refund. This company has an immense lack of remorse or even a slight hint of morality.

My mother and nephew was set to leave for the morning commute from Nashville, TN to Chattanooga. I received an email early on the morning of departure letting me know that there would be a 3hr to 3.5hr delay due to mechanical issues.

I called customer service and spoke with Beatrice at 11:56am to get an update on when the bus should arrive but she was unable to give me any kind of helpful information. I was only told that I would receive an email about any updates or changes. Time went by and received to text or email giving me a status, so I decided the best thing to do is go ahead to the location of departure. I got there but there was only one other passenger waiting, who had been waiting for a little over 20 minutes.

They were told by customer service that the bus would be arriving at that location within 20 minutes. So even though we didn't receive an email we were relieved that we didn't miss the bus. Now the wait game started and I knew something was wrong. I called customer service again who told me that the bus had left that location at 12:42pm.

I was PISSED!! I asked if they sent a notice of delay, why couldn't they also send a notice to the passengers that the problem has been fixed and to get our butts to the location? She said that that wasn't their responsibility and that they couldn't do that for every passenger. I asked to speak with the supervisor and she educated me by letting me know that they don't have supervisors.

Sounds like a company that you want to deal with?!

We had to book for another time later on that night. I'm not happy with this situation or how we were treated as customers.

Megabus - Bus Service Review from Leawood, Kansas

So I'm currently traveling on the mega bus as I type, and I am very upset. First, the heat is broken. So instead of making the most out of this twelve hour ride from Chicago to Memphis, I am too distracted with keeping my feet warm. I honestly do lot understand why a bus would be in service with no working heat and there are children aboard. Second, I see a spider web. Yes, a freaking spider web. Is the bus never cleaned? Third, some of the other customers are very inconsiderate. There is no reason why one must play their music to a volume where it is disturbing other passengers. I've never had this experience traveling. Megabus had left a very bad impression for my first time ever using this company. I will not recommend this transportation service ever!

Not good service

My parents were travelling form Toronto to Baltimore last week. The bus was scheduled for pick up time from Toronto at 6.30 PM and came an hour and half late. There didn't contact us nor e-mail us indicating that it would be late. When I spoke to customer service they told me that it's usual. I don't like the service at all. I am not travelling again with Mega Bus. They should return my money back since I had to stay extra hour and half and got late to work. It was not my concern and therefore, they should return the money back.
