No same day switches in Chicago

I throuat my bus was depersonalize Chicago at 7am but it was 6am I switched the departure times in my head. I was told there had to be 24 hours to make ticket changes and Chicago is a city where they don't allow same day changes and they charge you for making a new reservation in the phone. I would like my money back from ticket 1 but I'm concerned at how they just act as though they can treat Chicago like a normal town. We are CHICAGO!!!! A megaCity, a metropolis for goodness sake we have millions of people back and forth knowing that they don't have rules that make it easy for consumers to adjust their travel plans in a city like Chicago is unfair an they don't deserve Chicagos's business at all.

Unsafe Bus, No Alternative Given

Here's a brief synopsis of our recent Megabus trip: Bus from Chicago to Nashville - three hours late with detours through the ghetto in Chicago, wait for a different bus with no updates or introductions from the driver. Driver at one point loudly discusses how she "used to be into smoking that funny stuff" with a passenger in Louisville. Upon arrival in Nashville, driver has no idea how to get to the stop and takes us 30 minutes out of the way while getting directions from passengers. Return trip: We are seated on the bus ready to roll when the driver announces in the aisle (not over the intercom), "I just want to let y'all know that I don't feel comfortable operating this bus. On the drive here I was all over the expressway and couldn't control it. I asked for a different bus and the company told me it was fine, just check the tires. In case something bad happens, which I hope it doesn't, y'all can't hold me responsible because I'm telling you now I don't feel comfortable. I have to bring the bus back to Chicago anyway, so you are welcome to ride along, but we will most likely be doing 35-55 mph". Then he asked us to hurry up and get off if we were leaving. We got off along with about 10 other passengers. While picking up our bags from under the bus, he asked my husband and I to "leave him out of it" because he didn't want to have to take a drug test. As I watched the bus drive away, I called the number on the website, they gave me another number to call. I sat on hold for 45 minutes, then got hung up on. It was another 45 minutes on hold before I was able to talk to someone. They refunded our fair, but I intend to take legal action to at the very least be reimbursed the cost of our rental car and fuel. There are three separate issues here that are completely unacceptable. The competence of their drivers, the safety of their busses, and the total lack of customer service. If you are contemplating taking a trip with Megabus, I strongly suggest you avoid the danger and hassle associated with this company. I am willing to take an adventure and sacrifice certain amenities and have a flexible schedule. I am not willing to put my safety and the safety of my loved ones at risk by riding on a death trap bus driven by an incompetent druggie. The combined cost of our rental car and fuel (38 MPG) came to $243.01. I want to be reimbursed for my travel expenses.

Ticket

My daughter ordered a meva bus ticker for a 2:40pm trip to Wisconsin, from Iowa. Now she ordered the ticket for 2:40 pm & it should of been 2:40am. I told the lady Mrs. Victoria Heard @ mega bus that the ticket was suppose to be for 2:40am . My daughter nust ordered the tickets @ about 2:35 pm. We wasn't no wherenear the Greyhound to catch a bjs within 10 to 5 minutes. A good customer service would of notice that, & made sure my daughter heard her. She the customer service lady should of said "u no the bus leaves in about 5/10 minutes & my daughter would of remembered that it suppose to be 2:40am. Now because my daughter missed a bus she would of never made in tbe first place & I called to have the time corrected & the lady say she can't help me. The lady tells me about the changingtime would be within 24 hrs & i tell her how is that so when she just got the ticket no even 10 bminutes ago. What kinda policy is that. I no it should be something done every bussiness should have & do have a 24 hr time line. I am disable & on a fixed income.I will be filining a complaint with the better business bureau. Also Megabus customer service was very ruded. I wouldn't recommend there service to my worst enemy. Very heart broking & unsatisfied. Angie.

Late and transmission died

Me and 4 of my family members are traveling to Chicago from stl today, June 28,2013. First, the bus was 10 minutes late to arrive. 20 minutes into our drive, the driver stopped because he had to "check something" in the bus. At about 9pm, we made a designated spot and that's when we received news that the transmission was dying and so we would be stranded in a gas station for a few hours. It has been over 2 hours and we have not received news on what is going to happen to us. We are still over 3 hours away from Chicago. My family is only spending one day in Chicago tomorrow for sight seeing, but our plans are most likely ruined. At this rate, we won't be able to get to bed until 4am or later. This is ridiculous. Not worth the money saved. Don't take the megabus.

It happens, you can't always predict when something is going to die on you in a vehicle. You can't predict it.

So you sleep for a few hours and enjoy the rest of your trip. Be happy you are healthy, alive and get to go on trips. Look on the bright side. A bus is not a magical unicorn, it's just a bust and things break down. You are not stranded, they are probably coming to get you with another bus. Stranded is when you have no vehicle, no gas station, no way of getting anywhere. That's stranded.

Sleep 5 or 6 hours and enjoy Chicago!

Refund

I Audrianna Randle-Goodwin called today July 23rd 2013 to schedule a reservation For tomorrow departing at 7:00pm. The customer service was Great, However the scheduled reservation for two people will no longer be taking place. I feel that being the fact that I paid for two one way trips from Chicago Illinois to Madison Wisconsin will no longer be taking place, I should be refunded my $47.00 and not havingbit be unaccounted for. Being as though no one will be occupying those two seats. The reservation number is 4/5-73**-******-VG-1900-CVG-MAD. I would appreciate if someone in your scope of practice would review this complaint and see to it that the money that was spent be refunded.

Bus driver falling asleep at the wheel

On the megabus on june30 coming from washington dc to boston ma and in CT the bus starts to swrive because the bus driver was falling asleep at the wheel. Remind you this was 3am in the morning. Now we half to wait until 530am to dispatch another driver. This is ridicolous. I just want to go home. At least everyone on the bus is getting a refund back for this horrible and inconevience trip. Avoid megabus for any trips needed. It is better to fly or take the train no matter how much it cost. Being cheap to the bus route is not the way to go Now we are just sitting of no where in bridgeport ct with the police outside waiting for a new driver. Seriously where does megabus find these drivers??? Do not do background checks,do they not do a test drive with these drivers?? Not everyone should be able to operate a bus that put other people lives at risk.

Drivers are sometimes scheduled into the seat on a mandatory basis regardless of long hours worked . Laws regulate overworking driver hours, but bus companies don't care and can fire the driver at will for refusing to work when asked.

Ms. Stacey M. Bourgeois

I purchased a round trip ticket on 2/15/2013 for 172.50. When I needed to reschedule the dates to a later date, I couldn't because Megabus at the time only allowed you to reschedule up to 45 days out and only up to 3 times and charges $1 each time you reschedule. I emailed them, which took 5-7 business days to respond and the response was very unpleasant. I was locked out of the system when I tried to reschedule both trips online; so, I called their customer service and was told that the system locks you out for 1 hour if you try to reschedule more than one trip, even if it has the same reservation number. I was forced to reschedule on dates as far out as allowed, in order to prevent losing my credit. However, the customer service representative did not inform me that if a booked a cheaper trip on the forced rescheduled dates, I would forfeit my full credit. Now Megabus wants to charge me an additional $96 to reschedule on my correct travel dates, even though I should have a $94 credit. This has been my first time ever dealing with Megabus, and I haven't even gotten on any of their buses yet. However, Megabus has been the WORST customer service that I have ever experienced! I know that Megabus is a fairly new non-American company, but they are doing business in the USA with Americans and need to learn American customer service. With the advances in technology, there is no reason why an online system should prevent amending more than one reservation at a time and lock a user out for an hour if they do so. There is no reason why Megabus can't give customer credit for the full amount paid at least for a period of time (e.g., 6-12 months) like most service companies doing business in the USA. There is no reason for any service company to take 5-7 business days to respond to a customer inquiry and to respond in a very negative manner. There is no reason for not calling a customer back after filing a complaint twice through customer service and requesting a call back. These are common good customer service practices that most companies doing business in the USA practices; so, ther is no reason that Megabus cannot meet these standards if they want to continue to do business in the USA with Americans. I just want the money back that I have already paid them. I don't think that this is too much to ask.

LATE!

The bus was an hour late to arrive! with no communication(I checked my email and text messages) I was afraid I somehow missed it, even though I arrived 15 minutes early to be on the safe side. The only reason I made it on the bus was because the passenger waiting ahead of me had ridden the bus a few times before, and that the buses were late all the time. This type of service should not be considered the norm, or OK. After the bus finally arrived, the bus driver was extremely rude. If she had simply apologized, or acknowledged that there was a reason to be upset, I would not be making this review. All I wanted was "I'm sorry, there was a lot of traffic" or something. It is appalling! If you need to be somewhere, don't use megabus!

So upset with out a call back

My husband and I took a trip back to Columbus it was death in the family. We left out on Friday morning on the 12 midnight bus; from Atlanta ga. Road 9 hours with the toilet was stinking so bad i was sick; not to mention that I'am pregnant and had to smail someones bowls for 9 hours very unhappy.when we got to cincinati for the layout I forgot the I left my phone. I called mega bus the lady was very helpful and took all the info about my phone;said someone will call when thay find the bus. My phone call never came to let me know anything. So on the way back to Atlanta ga the ride from Columbus Ohio to Cincinnati was great; until we were picked up from the layover in Cincinnati to meet such a nasty and very rude. bus driver with know people skills.I mean just flat out nasty. That made the long trip back home so unpleasant . Had know desire to eat the food I had brought to eat because of her nasty atitude. So if someone would call me asap. before I. call the health. department about these unclean conditions I had to ride in for hours.(614)551-**** Thank you Mr& Mrs.Wallace

MEGABUS HAS THE WORST SERVICE

AVOID!!! AVOID!!!!!! AVOID!!!!! AVOID! Megabus has THE WORST service I've ever experienced. There have been several times when I've been up to 2 hours behind their scheduled arrival, and that time was because the bus broke down in the middle of the highway. The men outside with the yellow vests are the most ignorant, unforgiving, miserable human beings I have ever met. If you are thinking about booking for this company, I would strongly advise you to switch to Boltbus. They offer great service and their wifi actually works. They are prompt with the schedule and don't have rude employees.

I dealt with a pocket dictator of a driver who acted like he was a city cop. I told him to his face.

The other driver threatened to have me alighted even though I paid for my trip. This was a trip to pittsburg a couple of nights ago. There's no excuse for transit personnel to behave like ***.

Our tickets pay their salaries. The personalities of transit personnel are so infuriating it makes me want to kill them.

Megabus customer (dis)service

I'm writing this on my smart phone while riding a megabus from DC to Boston. During the safety video there was a number given for customer service if +(because) the wifi doesn't work. I didn't have time to write it down, so I googled megabus customer service and called to ask them for the number. I verbally accosted by a representative who's sole purpose in life is to book my reservation. When I asked for the magic number to fix my wifi issue, I was told that there was no such number. I asked to speak to the supervisor and was placed on hold. After a short wait she came back and said that the supervisor was unable to provide any additional assistance. Furthermore, I was not allowed to speak with them. Then for good measure, she started talking over me to read a script explaining that since I wasn't spending any money, she would be disconnecting the call.
