The demeanor of the driver

On my recent trip to Toronto, Ca and on the return trip the bus driver was maurice very military when he spoke ou listen. He introduced himself announced where he was going gave other directives approximate time of arrival at destination .I was very impressed because Ihad not had another driver do this before since I have rode with the megabus several times. I think he needs to teach the other drivershow to communicate with their passengers.I would also like to know why you advertise atlantic city on the bus and donot list it on destination.Last year Iwent to atlantic city from maryland and enjoyed the trip.

Megabus

Megabus so overbooked the 9:30Am 8/23/11 bus from Philadelphia to NYC that four people including myself were unable to find seats at 6th & Market. Someone on the bus said they do this a lot, and that you have to board the bus at 30th & Market. The next bus is not until 11:30 and there is no guarantee I will get on that with a ticket for an earlier bus. I feel like I just threw my money away. I bought my ticket a couple of days ago, not at the last minute. The reason I take the bus from 6th & Market St. is that I live nearby. The bus is certainly cheap, but it is not reliable. I hate to spend the extra money but I guess when it comes to getting somewhere on time, it is better to take the train. Megabus used to be good a year ago, but they are so busy now that the customers suffer.

Stand in Rain, they don't care!

On 2 separate trips from Hartford to NYC, the Megabus pulled up to the stop and left a long line of passengers standing in the pouring rain while the driver chatted with another driver. Most recently [August 14], a passenger tapped on bus door, the nasty driver yelled "I'm training a driver, you should have brought umbrellas!" With or without umbrellas we all were getting wet in the downpour since we hadn't planned on spending 20 minutes standing in rain. Drivers are rude, disrespectful, arrogant. I hate Megabus because there's no supervision, no accountability and treat customers with no respect.

Overpromise Megabus

I had a round trip to NY from DC. On the way to NY the A/C was not blowing any cold air. We were sweating like pigs. On the way back it was worse. The bus was 1 hour delayed. They overbooked and rented another bus. I got back to DC at 11 pm at night and relaying on the shuttle to the union station. But the guy simply said "No shuttle tonight!!" I had to walk to the metro in the rain. You can't just say there is shuttle on your website the nsay "not tonight" !! Never again!

Megabus is disorganized, and the staff are boorish.

July 11, 2011 was my first experience with Megabus, and it will be my last. Megabus is very inexpensive, the vehicle was comfortable inside (double-decker, no less), and the other passengers were fine. But the bus line is badly disorganized, and its staff need training on how to deal with passengers. My friend and I had a round-trip ticket, Philadelphia to New York and back. The trip was supposed to take two hours but wound up taking three. No explanation or apology was offered. Since my friend had an audition scheduled, the delay was not fun. Luckily, he just made it. Then the trip back to Philadelphia was really awful. We found the station fine, but there were no signs indicating where passengers were supposed to wait for which destinations. The staff made no effort to announce which buses were which. We didn't realize that the line we were in was for Toronto and that Philadelphia passengers were supposed to be in another, much shorter line. The result was that we missed the bus--the last one that night. When we complained, the staff became abusive to us.

I have an update to my review of July 12, 2011 (#248578), "Megabus is disorganized, and the staff are boorish". After filing a complaint that day with the company, I received a polite reply offering me and my traveling companion two free one-way tickets on the bus to New York City.

Because we've had no occasion to travel to NYC, we have not redeemed the offer, but it was made. I also received an apology and a promise to "take appropriate action" about the matter; no specifics about the latter were offered.

Awful experience DC to NYC round trip

We got to the DC stop (aka parking lot in an unsafe part of town) half an hour early. 15 min walk from metro, took us a lot longer lugging our suitcases and trying to find the exact address. We wanted to find the place and then go get drinks/snacks for the trip (the combination of medications I take put me at high risk of dehydration and I was running around in the heat to find this place so I was really in need of water at the least. Let alone snacks because I just love eating). When we get there, the previous bus just finished boarding. It was NOT labeled Megabus so we assumed it was not ours, plus we were still over half an hour early. So now that we found it, I took a seat on my luggage in the NYC line and my boyfriend was gonna run to get me a drink. A Megabus employee harshly asked me where we were traveling to. I thought he was annoyed we were late, so calmly explained we arrived early for the next NYC bus. He said to get my *** up and get on the bus. I said "Oh we're traveling with Megabus" and he says, extremely rudely and I was NOT expecting this at all especially cause I thought the "get your *** up" was a joke (obviously not) "WHAT DOES MY SHIRT SAY? DOES IT SAY MEGABUS? CAN YOU READ? You're a god *** genius. Get on that bus THAT'S YOUR BUS" (I let him have his power trip because after all he's a genius employee for the worst bus company around and I'm the *** going to law school...). I was feeling faint already and I was afraid they would refuse to let us board another bus if I argued, so I got in for what ended up being nearly 7 hours of a ride (traffic) with nothing to eat or drink. Since I'm no genius, I never thought that I should be on a bus leaving over 30 mins before mine was scheduled to and that was not labeled Megabus. Best part...they didn't even LOOK at our tickets. We had the confirmation up on our phone, but none of the 3 employees or driver checked. Obviously they didn't care, and that was NOT the bus we had booked, they just wanted to fill it up (there were less than 20 of us). This bus did not have Wifi, power outlets (which we banked on with two dead phones) and we weren't even sure if it would drop us off where the one we booked would. Before the bus got running, I wanted to make sure of our arrival station with the bus driver who snapped at me for talking to him because you're not supposed to talk to the bus driver (when the bus is still parked in the lot???) Leaving the NYC station, my boyfriend dropped me off and tied one of my bags around the handle of the other, to be courteous because that is how we saw them do it when we came. The attendant cursed at him in Spanish and made an aggressive gesture towards my bags (roughly saying "what the eff is wrong with you you *** *** take this sh.. off" and since I don't speak Spanish I could only get that he was annoyed with the way the bags were attached from how he was gesturing) I guess he didn't realize that my light skinned green eyed boyfriend is Hispanic as well. When my boyfriend told him to watch his mouth, he got extremely rude but in English this time and loudly in front of shocked customers...including me. Don't even bother asking an employee to identify another employee for you...it will get you nowhere but almost kicked off the bus. On the way back I got back after the shuttles ended in an area of DC you don't want to be when you're a petite 5ft young woman. The driver even told us the shuttles WERE running. As I wait with a few others for a shuttle that isn't coming, I got harassed by some obviously drugged out homeless guys (in 95 degree heat you don't need a think blanket wrapped around you) demanding me for money because "I obviously have some" -- yeah if I did have any to spare dude I wouldn't have taken Megabus!

Megabus NYC-BOS 7/4 6:10 pm cut-rate bus, lost driver

Megabus represents that their buses are two-level, include WiFi and outlets. The bus provided for the July 4, 2011 6:10 departure from New York to Boston was single-level, had no outlets and WiFi that functioned for at most 45 minutes near the beginning of the 4-hour trip. Further, the reading lights were nonfunctional, meaning that half of the trip was spent in darkness. What else could go wrong? Upon arriving in Boston, the driver failed to exit at South Station, and instead proceeded through the tunnel to Logan Airport and beyond, possibly as far as Revere, MA, where he turned around. We again missed South Station, instead proceeding down I-93S to Dorchester, MA, where he exited, again turned around and finally found the station, nearly a half-hour after we'd passed it the first time. I purchased the level of service that Megabus advertised, and given that they failed to deliver it and did not even offer the option of a refund and an opportunity to arrange other transportation, I have asked for a refund. So far, they have offered a boilerplate response that addressed none of my specific complaints, but expressed regret and promised to do better in the future, along with a refusal to issue a refund "at this time". I would like to hear from other passengers on this trip who would corroborate my account. Massachusetts law includes a strong consumer protection statute, the Consumer Protection Act, Chapter 93A of the General Laws, which would compel Megabus to address our complaint.

Update: Megabus did in the end refund my fare for this trip. I received three dismissive e-mails from customer service that either did not address my specific complaints or referred to Megabus' disclaimer that they may substitute buses that do not offer the promised amenities.

My second e-mail reiterated how they had failed to provide the service I'd purchased and referred to Massachusetts' Consumer Protection Act. This evidently caught the attention of a manager.

Megabus does not want to help you

A group of people, me included, missed a bus because of a huge accident that stopped all lanes on the freeway. We called megabus immediately, could prove that we had an unused ticket, and asked that our ticket be refunded. No help. Then we asked for an exchange. Nothing. Then we asked for a slight discount for rebooking, even for the lightly used 1am that left later on that night. Nothing. The only thing we got was an offer to help us book another full price ticket online, and that just cost more than online because of a service charge.

Mega buss sucks. Every costumer rep.

seems to be a graduate from Sarcastic University. We asked to speak to a manager and she was a bigger *** All we wanted to do is to push back our trip date. They claimed to have emailed me which they did not.

Their word against mine, they won. Thanks MEGA JERKS.

#306782

Megabus.com clearly states in the T&C that they do not offer refunds end that your reservation is only valid for the trip you booked. Did Megabus cause the accident?

No? Then, you can't hold them responsible.

Megaburst

Hate Megabus and Coach Canada. No respect for their clients. No warranty for wifi, for being on time, for a driver, for a bus or even for a seat. Treat their clients like animals by overloading their buses. ALWAYS late, A L W A Y S. Service is garbage: no customer service, no manager on site except an innocent driver. Never again. The company does not manage effectively its bookings in order to reserve enough seats for its clients. The company aimed to differentiate itself from Greyhound until they totally became the new Greyound in Canada. With no customer manager on site and a poor customer service, the company is often the victim of criticism from its clients. Service has becoming more and more late since the company decided to increase the number of daily bus trips between specific towns such as the Montreal-Toronto. Megabus do not offer $1 fare between Montreal and Toronto, many clients have been complaining for fake advertising. Wifi service and plugs often do not work on buses. Megabus lines are often late, especially over the week-ends. Overbooking is never anticipated by the company and sometimes patrons need to wait on line 20 to 60 minutes to get a second bus if the first is already full. No compensation is offered by Coach Canada nor Megabus. No customer service.

I could not agree more. Megabus my ***.

more like megabust. What a horrible company!!! I am never wasting my time or money on that rude, disorganized bunch of *** again. They have screwed me over more times than I can count now.

In the end I would have saved money taking the train, and been comfortable as well.

Also, what is the point of having a "customer service" number when the only "service" they provide is to tell you that they can't do anything for you. Lesson learned, so done with them.

Megabus - don't count on it

My daughter had a horrible Megabus experience. Her bus from Philadelphia to Pittsburgh arrived an hour late, causing her to miss her connecting bus's departure. She was dumped off, alone, in a parking garage in Pittsburgh at 12:20am. The megabus website was down and no one answered the phones, making it impossible for her to even find out if another bus would be coming by any time soon. Megabus refuses to refund the remainder of her trip, blaming her for not leaving at least two hours layover between buses so that she would not miss her connection. Really? She was supposed to stand in a parking garage for two hours in the middle of the night? Megabus should make sure that either its website or its customer service phone line are working at all times, if they're going to *** their customers around like this.

Megabus employees are writing all these personal attacks on consumers who complain. The real s holes are all the employees at Megabus.

How perverted that they lie for their minimum wage jobs. I know - I quit working there after two days because we were told to lie and trick the consumers!

#293563

Wow... how is this fake?

I'm her daughter and this really did happen to me. I may be a ***, but since nowhere on the website did it tell me that I should leave 2 hours for connections, I don't really know how I was supposed to guess. ESP maybe?

Anyway, I'm sorry that you have nothing better to do than go on here and call people fake for absolutely no reason. Have fun crying yourself to sleep tonight and jerking off your cat.

Wrong pickup location. Zero customer service. Confusing & uninformed.

I bought a ticket online from New York to Atlantic City. Ticket prints out without the pickup location on it. I call their "customer service" number - a recording, can't get a rep. The recording sends me to the wrong location. When I get to the wrong location, the guys there can't seem to tell me the correct location. When I finally get to the correct location, no one has even heard of megabus. I call customer service again - no representative, no one knows where this bus leaves from, no help at all. I have to call my friend just to figure out how to find the bus. It leaves late, of course, and we are subject to a lecture by the bus driver when we start to drive like a group of preschoolers. As if my trip there wasn't bad enough, I go on the web site to find out how to get home and there is nothing about any megabus locations in the area. I call customer service, finally get a rep, and they know NOTHING about megabus in that area. They literally give me zero help - they can't tell me who to call, where to go, the bus schedule, nothing. I cut my losses and go greyhound. I suggest you do the same.

Worth the Extra Few Bucks to Take the Train

I am writing this review from on a Megbus bus. Yes, they provide free wi-fi and cheap tickets - but do not let this fool you. You will pay severely with your time and energy for trusting this joke of a company. We've only boarded the bus after waiting two in the cold for its arrival (Scheduled for 9:30pm, finally departed at 11:30). The attendant at the terminal was not kept aware of the bus's location, and as such we were all in the dark about when the bus would be arriving. This has happened before on Megabus, which led to me sending them a complaint email - an email about which I never received a response. This company operates with 0 regard or respect for its customers, and as such will treat you with none. Trust someone whose experienced the bad side of the Mega: Spend the extra five bucks, take the train.

I should know better. Yes, we pay with time and aggravation on MB.

I've had good experiences on the NYC Providence route, but lately, I agree with the post above: little regard for the customer, and all about their own scheduling, etc. it's as if we were a bother. The trip I am on presently is late: the bus was without heat or internet, so they decided to swap busses in route (where they once stopped for food) and make us change. New bus has heat and internet, but could care less about our schedule.

No food. We had to wait for the driver to do endless checks and he acted as if it was normal to be so late. They told me I could not sit in the first two rows because they thought a leak had occurred. It is clear outside.

I'm saving money for the next train ride. Much more predictable.

#285176

Guess that depends on where you're at. In NYC, Megabus people are helpful and respect their customers.

Often enough, they would stop a bus as it's about to pull off because some late person literally RAN over to catch their bus. Now what kind of "joke of a company...with 0 regards for its customers" does that?

Mega bus website went down and I could not change my scheduled trip.

A trip on Mega bus from Toronto to Niagara Falls cost 3 times the amt because of error in reservation and the ridiculous cancellation policy and unstable mega bus website. An error discovered at the time of departure forced me to pay full fare all over again. I was advised that soon as I arrive at my destination I should access the website and change the date. While changing the date, Mega-bus website went down due to maintenance which cause me to miss the deadline for changes. I contacted customer service and they only agreed to refund me $14.00.

This happened to my husband coming back from Brockville to Kingston. The ride was not long (45 min).

Since, my husband bought his round trip ticket at Coach Canada (all most twice the price than paying on-line) he was able to keep the return ticket for next time (they have a year expiry). The thing is that Mega bus moved their pick-up location from the VIA station in Brockville (with inside waiting area) to a KFC parking lot by the highway. My husband would have had to wait 2 hours for the next bus in the cold and if that bus was full, there is no more buses until the next day.

Only 2 buses stop each day in Brockville. BTW, a couple of passengers coming from Montreal had to give up there seats for couple of passengers with disabilities getting on at the same time.
