Megabus

Had to catch the megabus back from Baltimore about 2 weeks ago. Arrived at the bus shelter 30 minutes before time. Waited in the freezing cold for 3/4 of an hour and the bus didn't arrive. No one to tell you what is happening. Called the Centre and got three different answers. One - the bus was on time and I was at the wrong bus stop, Two - the bus was delayed and Three - didn't know what time the bus got to Baltimore as it was delayed. I wrote an e-mail immediately and have still not heard. Last trip for me, that's for sure. Very disorganized, no one knows what is happening. I eventually got back to Toronto on a plane.

Megabus DC to Knoxville with NO heat

I took the megabus from Knoxville to DC it was pretty good. Heat is adjusted according to the weather. Wi-fi was working very well. But while returning from DC I faced very awful situations. 1. The bus is scheduled to departure at 9 PM but it didn't show up till 9.15 people were waiting in a cold weather with freezing wind. 2. There is NO heater on the whole bus. We were in the bus around 9 hours literally shivering. I don't how could they assume everybody carries blankets. 3. The driver left one passenger at the break spot and came back for him after some one had noticed so. It is really awful how come he leave a person all the way in the middle. He didn't even check how many passenger are there. 4. The wi-fi was not working. 5. The driver has played a movie. Half of the movie has NO volume at all. I really failing to understand how come they run the bus service in such a winter cold weather with NO heater.

Megabus a Megajoke

Megabus is terrible. Marabel and Vesna were like recordings, they may as well have put me through to a recorded message about the policy of not changing my reservation. I tried to get information on changing buses if we missed the bus and the only thing they could do is read the script, "Unfortunately there is nothing that we can do if you missed the bus." This was repeated several times and they were unwilling to budge. I know that your company is located in the US, Britain and Canada but I will be making a negative report to the Better Business Bureau. I do realize that you offer an inexpensive travel option that does not mean that you do not offer any customer service and information/assistance in case of emergency or incidents. This would be all the more reason to make an accommodation. I will also psst to all of my students, family, and friends on facebook that even though you are inexpensive, you are rude and inconsiderate. I would like a full refund for the price of my ticket and your website updated to say what happens if you miss the bus.

if you mis your flight you know you have to buy a new ticket , you should consider it is about the same thing for the bus. if you expect to have free next busses you are most probably expecting way too much , and specially for that price ...who is the joke here now ?

sure not me or the bus company . also that counts for your luggage. if you travel with a lot of luggage , guitars , extra bags , etc , it is gonna cost you extra. DUH , obvious!

complain is so cheap . stay home !

Megabus only allows one carry on and one luggage. As a performer carting at least one large packer, I was denied and had to pay for the next ride.

One guy next to me had two bags and one guitar that he made a living from playing. He needed to catch a flight back to Switzerland and beg literally on his knees to let him on.

They let his guitar on but left him screaming and punch the ground in madness. It was sad to watch.

Much like the airline industry, all seats on megabus.com are sold on a reservation basis and you must travel at your specified time and date. Customers are required to be at their departure point at least 15 minutes before their selected trip is scheduled to depart. No refunds or credits will be given in instances where customers miss the bus; however, reservations can be changed on our website up until 24 hours prior to departure.

Megabus is a MEGA BUST!

My girlfriend and I had scheduled a trip to DC from Knoxville Tennessee this weekend. We thought it would be an excellent way to reward ourselves from the hard work of the semester and have a fun weekend fairly inexpensively thanks to Megabus. We couldn't have had a worse experience thanks to Megabus. Our bus was scheduled to leave at 10:30 PM, Megabus suggests you arrive at least 15 minutes early. We arrived at the bus station at 10:00 only to see a Megabus drive away. We quickly phoned Megabus, but, were unable to get through. However, another patron was able to speak with a customer service representative. That rep told the other Megabus customer that the driver was simply going to refuel and eat and would be back by 10:30. My girlfriend had called Megabus at 10:15 to try and get some first-hand information. She waited on hold for 45 minutes. At 11:00 a recording informed us that customer service was closed and to call back another day. We waited at the bust station until 11:15. At that time we were informed that the bus station was in no way affiliated with Megabus and we would need to wait outside as the station was past closing hours. At this point the temperatures had dropped down to about 35 degrees. We waited around even longer giving Megabus the benefit of the doubt. However, when speaking some of the other, roughly 20, passengers it became clear that Megabus would not be returning. Another patron informed us that they were told by a Megabus representative that the bus would be there no later than 11:30. We waited until 1:00 AM before finally admitting to ourselves that our special weekend was ruined and we wouldn't be going to DC. Megabus has been nothing but a headache and frustration. They have wasted our time and money and are generally misleading about their service. Thankfully we were able to get a ride home and the only thing we lost was our Friday night and our bus fare (we will be seeking a refund and I will update status.) There was a young family that had driven from about 1.5 hours away to catch the bus....They left earlier than we did in an attempt to seek out a hotel for the evening....

Megabus questionable billing practices

After several failed attempts to purchase a round trip ticket on the Megabus website, I finally got through to the payment page, input my credit card number and hit the button to complete the transaction. Immediately I got a notice that my card was charged, but the transaction may not have been completed. I checked my bank online immediately and the charge was listed as pending. As it was late, I had to wait until the next morning to contact Coach/Megabus. They had no reservation on record under my name, but a follow up online check at my bank still showed the pending debit to my account. I have never had a company put the charge through with if they experience issues with the transaction. Nor have I ever received no confirmation on a charge. On top of the poor service record I hear about on their bus lines, this just adds to the fact that this company has very questionable business practices and should be investigate more seriously.

Uncomfortable bus ride

8/4/10 while boarding the bus in Chicago the bus driver was reading the comfermation numbers then sent everybody upstairs because he was boarding his family downstairs then when customers tried to get a seat on the first floor he put his feet up on the wall so that no one could get through.So when he was done boarding his family he was still not letting anyone downstairs so he sent everyone else upstairs and it was squished.people where standing up and the people who where sitting down couldn't move because it was crowded Bus DD080

you sure it was his family maybe it was a special needs family the elderly handicap somebody that called and asked for special seating but im sure you just made most of this up and left some info out. maybe you should call and ask for special seating if you want to sit downstairs

Scariest hour of our lives between Chicago and Grand Rapids as our driver swerved and nodded off repeatedly before stopping to "use the restroom"... eyes looked really red.

not kidding here. Never again. Moreover the bus engine continuously backfired when giving gas.

Lucky to be alive. This company should be thoroughly investigated...

Never take MegaBus! Terrible business!

I would NEVER recommend MegaBus to ANYONE! I took MegaBus from Indianapolis to Chicago and back. The bus leaving from Indianapolis was 2 and a half hours late and when it did arrive the driver was extremely rude! I had the same experience on the way back except during the TWO AND A HALF HOUR WAIT it was pouring rain and yet again I had an extremely rude driver. Also they say on their website that every bus is a double decker and has reclining seats, that was not true! We had a plain smelly white bus that was extremely uncomfortable and did not have reclining seats. I don't understand how any company can run a business like this and I will not be surprised if/when they are sued.

:( I cwon't even get into how many issues I've had with Megabus. Last year when is stated using them they were fine, not great but fine. Now (after 3 megabus trips myself as well as buying them for my gf/family to visit) I'm startled if the bus arrives within an hour after the set departure or one of the employees isn't blatantly rude.

I totally agree - the Columbus-Chicago 10:50 pm bus never arrived - had to pay for Greyhound and had an ordeal returning to Chicago in time to work the next evening. Megabus had no one available to talk with after 11 pm EST for information about where the bus was. Also have had problems with breakdowns, being 2+ hours late, no air conditioning in extreme heat on other Megabus trips.

No Response from Megabus Regarding Psychotic Bus Driver

On a Megabus trip from Rochester to NYC (M-24) on May 27, 2010, the entire bus was subjected to the psychotic behavior of a driver who needs to be evaluated for serious psychological issues. To make matters worse, just a few days later, I emailed customer service at Megabus and sent a letter to the president of Coach USA but have not even received a "auto response" stating that my complaint was received. It's as if they are ignoring me completely. Well, they don't realize who they are dealing with. I have always had a pretty decent experience on Megabus until now. Here is what our driver did on our trip: 1) Yelled at me (actually YELLED) for boarding the bus without first showing ticket. Entire group was upset by this scene and they said so to the driver. But he ignored everyone. 2) Did not allow me to sit in the seat of my choice….said NO ON was allowed to sit there. But at another stop, allowed someone he knew personally to sit in that seat. 3) When a passenger asked the driver why the Wi-Fi wasn't working, the driver said It's working. If you can't connect to the Internet, it's not my problem. 4) When a passenger told the driver she had left her food at the counter in the rest stop, the driver allowed her to go back to get it but then said out loud to the entire bus That's a smart passenger for you. And he laughed. 5) Drove erratically the entire trip…speeding up beyond the speed limit, then jamming on his brakes and taking curves very sharply, making most of us fall out of our seats. He also cursed and yelled at two other vehicles (one was a car and the other was a bus). He used language that I will not repeat here, but in both cases was trying to incite a fight. To the "powers that be" at Megabus and Coach USA, if you want to stay in business and you don't want lawsuits....do something and quick to respond to your customers' concerns.

She must be the same one who now drives between Pittsburgh and Harrisburg and Philadelphia. She stops the bus on the PA Tpke to "look" at her tires, but takes a smoke break.

She tells everyone their ticket schedules are wrong.

She won't answer questions. And, she swerves all over the road.

Dear Mr, Mrs

I would like to make a complaint against the driver concerning my trip from New York City to Toronto, i was insulted by the driver at about 4:00 am when we stopped to change the driver, it was the first driver who drived us from New York City to Syracuse, not the one who drived from Syracuse to Toronto.

I tried to open the back door when the front door was openned and i didn't see it was openned, i told to the driver i was sorry and he insulted me "sucker" because i tried. I do not tolerate to be insulted this way for free.I didnt respond to his insult.

I would like to thank you to give me the name of the driver to make a complaint.

Megabus was over 2 hrs late

I constantly take megabus to and from new york. All of my experiences make me hate megabus completely. Not only did the bus I took yesterday get there 2 hrs late but the wifi wasn't working at all. When I told the driver, he insisted on telling me it was on even though it wasn't working on anyones computer. I am not so upset about the wifi as I am about its completely unreliable service. This is not the first time the bus comes in late. It has been this way more than half of the times I have used this service. Worst of all, is their customer service. They do not care that the drivers come in late and are very rude when you call in to complain.

:eek I couldn't believe it when after cancelling due to weather, I tried to get back the next day and was told I needed a NEW confirmation number. I made the change over the phone, but they never mentioned that my number would change and said the person loading the bus would have the info.

Turned out they didn't have a "hand-held" computer and could not look it up. I barely got on, after sitting on the cell phone for over 20 minutes!

Make sure you ASK for any number changes on your reservations. They may not offer it.

Night time bus drivers are terrible. They just collect tickets then drive.

No customer service training at all. They don't make sure people hog extra seats before or during the trip and they do not warn people to stay quiet at night with ipods and talking on phones loudly. The night time drivers seem to be an angry shift who hate customers, or get paid badly.

They should find another job; and megabus management should pay attention to complaints and FULLY train drivers on complete customer service. I recoomend people contact Provincial transportation Ministers and complain about disgraceful and dangerous service of megabus night time drivers.

I can sympathize with Vladimir_m from his post above. My family and I traveled to NY on 12/18 and had tickets to return on 12/20, but a major snowstorm hit that day and Megabus canceled all service.

We understood that but when I called to just have the tickets for the 20th rolled over to the 21st, I was told they couldn't do that and was instructed to buy 5 more NEW tickets and they would refund me the money from the canceled reservation. That was in December 2009. Today is May 7th 2010 and I am STILL trying to get my refund from 12/20. Just like Vladimir, I had no luck with the 877 number (unless I wanted to make a purchase).

I experienced hold times of nearly 2 hours on one occasion, 47 minutes another time and about 1 hour 15 minutes yet a third time when I called the 908 "customer service" number. I tried one more time today and still couldn't get anyone to answer after about 24 minutes. Never got through. And the people at the 877 number were unsympathetic and borderline rude when I explained that I could never get through on the 908 number.

The rep I spoke to today actually said "Yeah, that's too bad. Sometimes they get really busy." Then he said "What's your problem anyway? You can go online and fill out a form." which just seemed very rude to me. I told him I had been trying to get my refund since December and he told me I shouldn't have waited so long!!

Besides, I tried the online form and got nowhere with that one either. I finally filed a complaint with the BBB and hope that it produces a refund.

The way Megabus does business is just unacceptable. I would warn others to use another bus company.

Megabus call center refused to actually listen to what I was saying.

I called customer service because my bus driver had threatened to lock me in the luggage compartment. I explained to the customer service rep that he had said my carry-on was too large, even though their website hadn't said anything besides "it must fit in your lap", which it did. Customer Service Rep: Your luggage must be a standard size suitcase weighing less than 50 lbs. Me: Yes, I know. The issue was with my carry-on bag. CSR: It must be a standard size suitcase... Me: Yes, the driver said my carry-on was too big, but according to your website it is not. CSR: The carry-on must be a standard size bag that will fit under your seat. Me: That isn't what your website says, it says the bag must fit in your lap. (CSR directs me to the luggage requirements page, which I', already on.) Me: Yes, I'm looking at that page right now, it says the bag must fit in my lap. CSR: Your luggage must weigh less than 50 lbs and... Me: Ma'am, I know. The issue was my CARRY_ON... CSR(interrupting): It must be a standard size suitcase... Me (getting annoyed): Look, I just called to tell you about the bus driver harassing me. Also, apparently your website needs to be updated with your new carry-on requirements. I just don't understand why I was supposed to know information that isn't on your website. CSR: Your carry-on must fit under your seat. Me: Yes, I know that now, but your website doesn't say anything about that. CSR: Your luggage must weigh 50 lbs or less. Me: Yes. Will you report my complaint about the driver? CSR: Yes, but for future reference your carry-on must fit under your seat. Me (giving up): Yes, I understand. Thank you. *hangs up* (Their website still says your carry-on must fit in your lap, and nothing about it fitting under your seat.)

It sounds like a non-native English speaker who was trained to respond to certain questions by using a script. They are not able to hold an actual conversation unless it fits within their script. This happens all the time when a company outsources their customer service department to countries such as Malaysia, India, the Phillipines, etc.

Mega joke is an under statement! I will never do business with this company again.

Not only was the pick up location extremely difficult to find because they failed to provide a physical address, the call center agents located in Georgia were rude, and really lacked customer service skills. I asked to speak with a supervisor several times and finally hung up after being denied. The incompetent rep, whom I was on the phone with for over 40 minutes finally stated, I could go into the center and get a replacement ticket because I missed my bus. Then she stated that location does not have an actual office.....

Okay???? So to sum it up.

I did not speak with a supervisor, my ticket was not exchanged, and refund was denied! I am currently disputing this with the BBB.

I heard about this bus via a friend. I travelled from Memphis to Chicago recently.

The bus was 1 hour late. Someone vomited in the isle,it was never cleaned up during the entire trip. Becaue the fares are cheap,it attracts shady characters. On my trips, they wer cursing ut h te driver for not making unscheduled stops.

I would never take this bus again. I encourge everyone who is thinking of taking a trip on the Mega Bus should pull off the complaints and file them in a safe place.

Before long there will be major law suites. Your attorney will need them

if the company does not hire safe drivers and improve their services.
