Megabus

Our trip started out in Birmingham (Morris Ave and 17th Street). The bus driver was 1 hour late. This made me miss my connecting bus in ATL to DC. When I called Customer Service supervisor Jessica Francios said "we do not guarantee connecting buses but you may purchase a new ticket". Megabus owned no responsibility and kicked me off the bus not accommodating me at all. Based on this experience megabus is a bad company to do business with. Ms. Francios failed to give me her manager's name so that I may escalate this matter. She advised me to call back the following day to get it myself.

Megabus Horrific Customer Service

The Megabus arrived at its pickup station 38 minutes late, so I wanted at least a partial refund for a service half rendered. I e-mailed inquiry@***.com, which was the only contact information I could find on megabus.com. They replied telling me that I had reached the North East section of the company, but I needed the Midwest section, and they gave me the phone number 773-890-****. I called the number, started to explain my problem, and he cut me off telling me that he would forward me to customer service. The phone rang once, and then it seemed to pick up, but there was dead silence on the other end. I waited several minutes and said "Hello?" and then the call just dropped (My cell phone had perfect service). I called back the 773-890-**** number to ask for customer service again, but no one answered the phone. I called back a second time and got a lady who said she was customer service. She appeared to be trying to help. She asked me when my trip was and where it was, and told me to "hold on a second." After waiting on the line for 31 minutes and 45 seconds, I gave up.

Their customer service is non-existent, I think it's outsorced. The 1st time I tried to use them NYC/DC they couldn't get me on a bus on time for the reservation I had.

Called customer service - while walking over to the 42nd St bus depot to get into a different bus - and asked for a refund. After taking my complaint they tell me "someone is going to contact you in 5-7 biz days to let you know if a credit will be issued". So I disputed the charge with the card issuer and won. Next time I used Bolt and had no problems.

This past week was my 2nd and last experience w/ Megabus.

Buses are comfortable but chronically late, they make unscheduled stops, etc etc etc. It's just not worth the hassle.

38 minutes late? What do you expect for a low-priced service?

Most regular MB riders have waited longer.

You really expected MB to give you a refund, for what, 50% off so you get 50 cents back????? Man, you are one cheap SOB.

You get what you pay for

You get what you pay for. Bought a roundtrip ticket from Washington to Pittsburgh. MegaBus moved the stop and did not note it on their website or on my confirmation. While waiting I realized there was a problem and finally found someone who told me where the stop was. I ran up and the bus was still there. I knocked on the door and the driver started to swear at me and refused to open the door. I was not the only person who was there trying to get her to open the door but she just kept screaming and swearing. After 30 minutes of fighting she pulled out and left us standing there. Finally found a Megabus rep who said this driver was a problem and would be fired however he could not refund my roundtrip ticket I would have to contact Customer Service. I sent an email and asked for a refund for my roundtrip ticket and also said they should offer me a free ticket for all my trouble. They wrote back and did refund my outbound and offered me a free oneway ticket but refuse to refund my return. Their reason is I still could have used it. HELLO!!! If you couldn't get me there how could I use the return?

Megabus is a Megamess

I use Megabus often from Nyc to Boston. The main reason is for the power outlets that NEVER work. I asked the driver on my last trip 10/31 why the outlets don't work? He acted as if he didnt hear me. The power outlets clearly dont work not to mention their website raises the prices within seconds once you view the journey. This company is full of false advertisement. Ride for as low as a dollar. Is that a joke..it does happen but not very ofte. I am sure Megabus is profiting if so Nyc needs a bus depot because standing outside in the heat, rain and snow is not cool. Megabus is very clean but the service sucks.

I totally agree. The bus is clean (I haven't seen the bathroom though) but there's no wifi and the power outlets never work.

First of all I have found their service for the price very good. The secret to the good prices is the earlier you make the reservation the cheaper it is!

If you wait, you pay more! Second of all the driver's don't have any control over the equipment. They are drivers not mechanics! If you listened to the video that they play it clearly states "Don't talk to the Driver!" He has to drive not carry on a conversation!

Which is more important?

A safe ride or whining about outlets that don't work! Charge you devise before you leave!

Megabus complain

I took the Megabus from Richmond to Washington DC on Nov 4 between 6:20 pm and 8:30 pm. The drive was the same as last week, and she was the same nightmare we experienced last week. Last week, we waited outside in the rain and she refused to let us load the bus until 6:20 pm. Doesn't Megabus allow passengers load the bus 15 minutes earlier, not mention the chilling weather and heavy rain? Many passengers complained. When we loaded the bus, I told the drive a guy would arrive the station soon. Unexpectedly, she asked me whether I was the one who complained. Today, she was late to start the trip and let us load the bus in dark. She then opened the AC to almost unbearable temperature for two hours. As the matter of fact, I have taken the bus for several months and never met the drive like her. If she continues to be the driver of the bus, I have to switch to another bus company. I hope the company inform me how to deal with this issue by emailing me at everking0704@***.com. I reserve all my right for further actions.

I used mega bus and it was delayed when it arrived at parkway in birmingham and the driver arrived late so we arrived at parkway late an hour delay it was also very hot in the coach and told him to turn it down and he told me it was on low but apparently it was still hot in the coach the customer service is very poor and not proffesional :roll

I took megabus from pittsburgh to toronto today 01/08/2012 at 7:15 pm. The 2 guys, who were there to load the luggage were very rude, they were using bad abusive language and also their behavior was very racist. I am not taking Megabus EVER in my life and I will let everyone I know about the bad experience I had.

Those guys should be fired ASAP....or Megabus will out of the business soon!!!!!

Megabus Megasucks - Broke down

The MegaBus is a joke. Never has the WIFI worked. On more than half the trips I have taken the power doesn't work and now we are broke down in the middle of nowhere. It is more reliable to hitch or wait for the Star Trek Transporter technology to occur. What a MegaSituation! The sad part is that there is no plan if there is a break down. No plan whatsoever. They just announced a bus is coming from Pluto, oops, I'm sorry Maryland. And now it is 5pm and it has to navigate through Washington DC traffic. What a MegaSituation!

Took the MegaBUST from Hartford to NYC on 10/6/11. Ride there was ok. We were booked on the 4:20PM return trip. Got to the MB corral at 3:45 to be safe. 4:20 came and went. Despite questioning the MB employees, we didn't get a definite response til around 5PM...

Just took megabus on a megacrappy ride from nyc to dc. The driver was trying to freeze all the passengers by leaving the door open when it was -4 below zero...

it worked. People were wearing extreme cold weather gear on the bus, gloves, hoods...driver did not care one bit that people were freezing because he had the bus door open. People were not coming and going, just a bus sitting there with the door wide open while it was freezing outside!!

NEVER take this bus. They were good when they started service, but now they totally suck...maybe 2019 will be the year they go out of business!

my name is rose riley, on 10-2-11 i purchased online a round trip ticket on megabus to phila. from richmond, on my return trip on 10-5 i did not miss my bus, the bus was still parked i pulled up & asked the driver was that the bus to washington , he shook his head yes, iwas getting my luggage & he pulled off, that was the 11;50am to richmond, so i went & asked the mega bus attendent when was the next bus to richmond & he told me 4;20pm, he said there was a 5.oo fee , i was there at 3;15pm, i paid the fee, and was on the bus, the attendent came to me & said there was not a bus to richmond on tuesday,& wensdays anymore the schudule has changed, so they called someone to find out, & there was another one out of washington, but i had to wait 3hrs i want a refund, i am disabled.

i have taken megabus about 10 times before and never really had any issues. except for my last trip. having my 6 hour trip turn into an 8 hour trip was not pleasing.(both ways) the driver made a personal stop for herself at one point and we were not aloud to leave the bus. also, having my driver eat her burger king while driving in heavy traffic was quite scary. the driver on the way home was seriously speeding in the left lane , in the rain, the entire way back on a winding turnpike and i was honestly scared for my life. we were running late and some people were taking a connecting bus that was promised it would wait 20 min for us to arrive. it waited 10 min and left those passengers stranded in pittsburgh. never knew what happened to those poor people. out of the whole experience, i wish that the driver was more aware of her driving, being responsible for so many peoples lives and everything.

Megabus Drives Broken Buses

Taking MegaBus DD427 from NYC to Boston, sitting right behind the driver on the lower level (right over the front wheels, apparently). About five minutes after leaving the "curb" in NYC the bus grounds out on a small pothole on a NYC surface street near the Lincoln Tunnel. Driver curses, and the bus grounds out several more times, fortunately it never high centered, but there was some serious banging going on. We're still not in Boston yet (yay WiFi, one thing they've done right!), and I'm pretty sick of the bouncing. Apparently the suspension on this bus is shot, and it won't provide anything close to a smooth ride. Reminds me of an old car that's floating down the road, except a million times worse. We just hit a bump that made me almost jab my eye while I was scratching my face. So *NOT* cool. The ride down to NYC was fine, but if Megabus thinks they can send us out on broken buses that's really not cool. Beware bus DD427, don't ride it unless you enjoy roller coasters! Seriously, we just hit another bump and I'm pretty sure I got some negative Gs. I want off!

Megabus: bad at customer service

I was very annoyed to find out that after purchasing 2 return journeys that they weren't refundable, which it is not clearly stated. I called customer service for the first time to be treated poorly & unprofessionally, ultimately like a ***. Then, when I tried to amend my journey so I was able to use the money they would already eat, the website wouldn't let me do so. I had to call customer service twice and talk to two different people to get my reservation changed. Everything seemed to go around in circles. They lack some serious customer service, & I don't think anyone would appreciate being treated this way. I haven't typically had a problem & have used Megabus multiple times. It took me way too long to receive help for simple problems. Very disappointed.

Mega bus is wholly *** when it comes to customer service. I was travelling from NYC to State College.

I had two bags. They charged me, without my consent, extra 65$ just for an extra bag. Can you believe that I was made to pay 130$ for a 4-5 hour travel. They say in their ad that our fairs is as low as 1$...

Yea, but 130 of 1$.

They were not acting friendly. Don't trust them...

Never ever trust Megabus

Wondered why Boltbus is always sold out and this frequently Mega delayed Megabus is always not..They're often hours late no explanation as to why and the guy in the platform doesn't know anything IF he is there at all. Will never use this service again and hope to see this company go out of business soon. As simple as that. I am in line for the bus at the moment with more than a hundred customers in line because there is no way to get tickets refunded right away and the customer service phone takes forever to get connected to. Who is the irresponsible owner of this bus???

I would not recommend Megabus to my worst enemy (ok, maybe my worst enemy). My husband and I thought we would take a trip to New York over a 3 day weekend and enjoy much of what New York has to offer. Unfortunately for us, it happened to be the "big hurricane"...

So, the driver told everyone exactly what time he was leaving and was then prepared to leave at that time? Sounds as if those paying passengers who were late getting back to the bus should learn to take some personal responsibility and be back on time.
